UTK Parking Garage at Volunteer Blvd & Pat Head Summit Dr
Bullock Smith, in joint venture with Lindsay & Maples, is completing construction administration for the newest parking garage for the University of Tennessee in keeping with the goals of the Campus Master Plan which BullockSmith also updated in 2015. The efficient concrete structure will serve the adjoining new residence hall as well as many other events and user groups on campus. The facility provides just over 1,060 spaces on 6 levels with vehicular access at two separate entrances at two different ground levels. The sensitivity of this large parking structure’s location on campus, on a central thoroughfare adjoining significant academic buildings, required an unusually high level of care with historicist massing and detailing to render it a good neighbor architecturally. Particular attention was paid to the collegiate gothic detailing of the envelope to ensure that the new facility complements the adjacent buildings but, most importantly, strictly adheres to the campus architectural standards.
